The Quinto Martini Park Museum, located in Seano in the municipality of Carmignano, is one of the most important outdoor sculptural complexes dedicated to a single author in Italy. Quinto Martini, a native of Seano, left an indelible mark on the artistic panorama of the Italian twentieth century. The park presents a fresco of his vast artistic production which ranges from the first decades of the century to the late 1980s.
The park hosts 36 bronze sculptures, the result of Martini’s work between 1931 and 1988, personally followed by the artist himself during the casting and finishing process. These works represent many of the artist’s favorite themes, with subjects ranging from rural life to scenes of everyday life in a country town.
Inaugurated in 1988, the Quinto Martini Park Museum was conceived as a tangible testimony of the art and life of Quinto Martini, who was still alive at the time of the park’s opening, having died in 1990 at the age of 82. In 2020, with the opening of the artist’s home-studio to the public, the park became an integral part of the Quinto Martini Widespread Museum, offering a new dimension to the understanding and appreciation of the artist’s work.
The park extends over an area of over 32,000 square metres, immersed in the evocative natural setting of the Carmignano hills. The bronze sculptures, harmoniously distributed among gravel paths and large green flowerbeds along the Furba stream, offer a unique experience of contemplation and reflection. Martini’s work, influenced by the art of Ardengo Soffici, reflects a deep connection with the territory and its community, transmitting a sense of serenity and connection with the surrounding nature.
The Park dedicated to Quinto Martini therefore represents a fascinating dialogue between art, nature and community, offering visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the creative universe of one of the most representative artists of Italian sculpture of the 20th century.
