La Casa del Prosciutto in Vicchio: the homeland of the tortello in Mugello
La Casa del Prosciutto in Vicchio is the classic trattoria of Mugello. Rustic, almost spartan, with a menu entirely dedicated to local cuisine.
Appetizers: we can start from salami to continue with traditional crostini toscani (those with chicken livers in particular) and fried polenta with mushrooms.
First course: here I think it is almost mandatory to take the potatoes tortelli of Mugello. For me they are the best ever, particularly substantial and nicely spiced. They are truly special!
Alternatively you can choose between tagliatelle, strozzapreti, ribollita etc.
Main courses: we continue in the name of culinary tradition with awide choice of various types of meat (chicken, pigeon, rabbit, pork, beef…). You might opt for the classic bistecca alla fiorentina (florentine steak) or wild boar. Hard to recommend one dish in particular, the choice is wide andthe quality is always very high.
For a gargantuan lunch consisting of appetizer, first course, second course and dessert you spend around between 30 and 35 euros. Money spent very well.
I love this restaurant that I know since many years thanks tot he many family meals we had here. I am a lover of Mugello cuisine that here is enhanced in the proper respect for the tradition.
The only flaw is that the restaurant does not have much room inside and sometimes you have to tighten a bit to sit at the table.
